Job description

Ready to lead the financial future of a brand with heart and purpose?

At Hadley Designs , we believe every product should fill homes with beauty, learning, and inspiration. We design screen-free learning tools that help children fall in love with learning and help parents feel proud of how they nurture that growth.

As our Finance Director , you’ll be the architect of scalable systems that fuel that mission. You’ll bring precision, foresight, and strategic clarity to every financial decision, guiding the company’s growth toward $100M and beyond with confidence and discipline.

You won’t just manage numbers. You’ll empower a purpose-driven team to think bigger, move faster, and build a lasting legacy.

About Hadley Designs

Hadley Designs is a family-founded brand redefining early education through creativity, beauty, and connection. We design screen-free learning tools that spark curiosity and confidence in children while giving parents peace of mind.

We believe learning should be fun and engaging. Beautiful design creates better learning. We don’t just sell products. We shape futures.

About the Role

Your Core Focus

You’ll own the full finance function, building scalable systems, managing cash flow, driving profitability, and leading financial strategy to support Hadley Designs ’ next era of growth.

What You’ll Do

• Deliver accurate, audit-ready financials by the 20th of each month with full account reconciliation and zero material errors

• Build and maintain a 12-month rolling cash forecast, updated weekly, ensuring perfect liquidity and visibility

• Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process across all departments with ≤10% variance between forecast and actual results

• Develop automated systems and workflows that reduce manual reporting time by at least 25% within your first year

• Partner with leadership to implement initiatives that increase profitability and improve EBITDA by 2 percentage points in your first 12 months

• Create and document SOPs for close, forecasting, cash flow, and reporting processes

• Implement new systems for expense management, travel, and purchasing by Month 6

• Produce insightful financial dashboards and KPIs that drive better decision-making

• Partner cross-functionally with Product, Sales, and Operations to align growth, cash flow, and inventory planning

• Evaluate technology solutions (ERP, reporting tools) that prepare the company for scale

How Success Is Measured

• 100% of monthly financials delivered on time and error-free

• 0 overdrafts, late fees, or missed payments

• ≤10% variance between forecasted and actual EBITDA

• 12-month rolling cash forecast maintained weekly

• SOPs for all finance processes documented within 3 months

• System improvements reducing manual work by 25% in Year 1

• Trailing-12-month EBITDA margin up 2 points within first year

Who You Are

You’re a strategic, detail-oriented leader who thrives on clarity, accuracy, and impact. You know how to scale systems, guide teams through growth, and communicate financial insight in plain English. You’re not just reporting numbers, you’re building the foundation for smart, sustainable expansion.

Requirements

You bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (MBA or CPA strongly preferred)

• 5+ years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, including 3+ years in leadership

• Proven success in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling

• Experience implementing scalable systems and automation in growing organizations

• Strong knowledge of GAAP, compliance, and tax standards

• Proficiency with tools such as Xero, QuickBooks, or advanced Excel/Google Sheets

• Excellent analytical and communication skills; you turn complexity into clarity

• Experience in e-commerce or multi-channel retail (preferred)

• Collaborative mindset and the confidence to influence executive-level decisions

Benefits

Why You’ll Love Working Here

At Hadley Designs , your work has purpose. You’ll join a small but mighty remote-first team where financial excellence and creativity go hand in hand. You’ll have the freedom to build, lead, and innovate, without red tape.

Here’s what you can expect:

• Remote-first environment with flexible hours

• Direct collaboration with the CEO and leadership team
